CHILDREN'S
IDENTIFICATION PROGRAM
What is the Child ID Program or "KIDS"?
It
is a program adopted by the Grand Lodge Free and Accepted
Masons of California to provide a significant community
service to the many communities in California. All too
often, we see or hear the story of a lost, runaway or
apparently abducted child. Between June, 1984, and
September, 1992, there were 29,514 nationally reported
cases, and the numbers are increasing. This program is
designed to facilitate the safe recovery of these youngsters
by the authorities. Since the program began in 1998,
parents of more than 100,000 California children have
received this vital information in case their child is ever
missing.
The child's
picture and thumb prints are taken and transferred to a
single sheet of paper and given, free of charge, to the
parent(s) with the instructions on the back on how to use
the document. No information is taken from the parent or
child and once the identification sheet is provided to the
parent, the child's file is deleted from the Masons'
equipment. Absolutely no information is retained.

If the child is
ever missing, the parent(s) may provide the picture and
thumb prints of the child to the authorities. Law
enforcement agency searches are enhanced by this expeditious
information. In order to maintain a current child ID,
parents should use this free service often.
KIDS Program Locations
In support of this
very worthwhile program, Granada Hills Masonic Lodge has
purchased its own equipment and materials to serve more
efficiently. We provide ID clinics several times yearly
during local events and at various youth group locations.
